About Us

Background

The creation of the Not for Profit Limited Company came about after discussions with Glenreagh Mountain Railway Inc and Woolgoolga Mountain Bike Club as well as with Coffs Harbour City Council, Clarence Valley Council and the village communities of Glenreagh, Lowanna and Ulong. This follows a request of Glenreagh Mountain Railway Inc to hand back a large section of rail corridor that was highly degraded and unsuitable for rail operations to the community for a Rail Trail. The discussions with stakeholders agreed to establish a “not for profit” Limited Company to hold the asset, develop the Rail Trail and associated infrastructure for the use by the broader community. The other aim was to engage economic development in these rural communities as well as generate funds to maintain the assets and  funding other projects to support this regional area. The development of the Rail Trail will allow many of the underlying issues such as low employment in the rural communities to be addressed, thereby providing opportunities to the youth and young families in these areas.
